Both Tanner Olson and “Big Jim” Matt Shively are on the horn for this one. We kinda make fun of their names—with Full House in the former, and how’d-you-get-the-nickname in the latter—before getting into the new Across Tundras album Sage (available on Neurot Recordings). I never heard of them before this, so we talk about their origins and formation, first and foremost. But as we explore their sounds, we touch on the modern allure of classic Western themes (I reference steampunk and Firefly), and then my favorite part: unearthing the dark parallels between Metal and Bluegrass. And not only do you get 36 minutes of interview, it’s also bookended with album opener “In the Name of the River Grand” and mighty instrumental closer “Shunta Sapa”
