On the last night of their “An Evening with AMON AMARTH” tour, the mighty Swedes played a killer set at The ‘Dise in Boston. MetalMattLongo snapped some sweet photos and Willow Holden wrote a lovely letter to thank them. They have another round planned for Fall 2011, too!

Baroness ruled the Mastodon headlining show at Higher Ground on Saturday April 24th. And although I understand that Mastodon and Between the Buried and Me are bigger selling entities, I felt as if Baroness was the only band that seemed genuine in their performance. This is not to say the show wasn’t fantastic—because it was. However, I think there is something to be said for musicians that are jaded by their fame. Sometimes it shows.

Live Review : Opeth and Enslaved, 2009May03, Le Medley, Montreal, CA

On Sunday night, Matt and I attended an Opeth concert opened by Enslaved in Montreal, Quebec at Le Medley. The night was cool, dry, and still. Both of us had forgotten our high fidelity earplugs and were forced to purchase squishy foam ear-barriers that dampened a whopping 29 decibels. Le Medley is a lovely club, albeit one with an unfortunate architectural quirk: pillars that impede one’s view of the stage if one happens to get stuck behind them.
