Okay… so you were crushed by Black Breath—THE BAND—and on a somewhat-unrelated note, by ‘Darker Handcraft’—THE ALBUM—right? I kept searching for a Trap Them release called ‘Black Breath’ and it drove me nuts when I came up with nothing! I think you needed an extra clarifying sentence in there :)

I hear ya—Ozzy has often said that as well. So to someone looking for a broad swipe on a simple question like “What kind of music do you listen to?”, it’s appropriate. But if someone asks you for a band recommendation in the vein of sludgy, atmospheric post-metal like latter-day Neurosis and you answered back with… say… Enslaved (from any period), or something unconventionally dark and heavy like Rasputina, then that’s misleading.

If the inquiry was pointed like that, wouldn’t you rather answer back with Kollwitz or Shrinebuilder or USX or A Storm of Light? No answer is necessarily “correct”, but I think both are appropriate in the right context.

i prefer the term “heavy music”. It’ll include folk bands like Woven Hand and Six Organs Of Admittance through the darkened rock of Grails and Barn Owl and all the way to the myriad of heavy metal sub genres.

Actually, most of this review—particularly the second paragraph—is about music creation. There are many writing styles on this site, and not all explicitly describe music; some do.

I will concede to your second point, regarding my accuracy. You’re probably correct about the “Rivers of Lust” lyrics. Reading again, I’m surprised I misinterpreted them.

However, when you become a public figure and so much of your personal life is broadcast, it can be difficult to separate from what is created professionally. You may think this review leans too far in the ‘personal’ direction, and you might be right, but these are still *people* with *lives* that do parallel their music.

This is one of the weakest quality reveiws I have read lately.
First of all, it does not debate anything musically.
Second, the hints about lyrics are malicious and parralel with reality.
“Rivers of lust” as an is entirely about child abuse and “Montañas de Silencio” is about a nightmare.
Lastly, romantic garbage and picanteries in the singer’s personal life (like wearing or not her wedding ring) have nothing to do with a professional.

No problem! Yeah, it goes without saying (yet here I will say) that Phil Lynott left impossibly large shoes to fill. But after hearing this, I’m excited to see this latest incarnation of Thin Lizzy. Thanks for the kind words :)
