Who—or what—is Gigan? Turns out they have less to do with kaiju (though they’re still fans) and more to do with transcendental existence. Go figure.

Listen to this interview with Gigan founder Eric Hersemann and uncover the mysteries behind the album Quasi-Hallucinogenic Sonic Landscapes, while getting a taste of the album before its Willowtip Records release on 2011Jun07. We start with most of “Mountains Perched Like Beasts Awaiting the Attack”, then talk for ~25 minutes about everything from love for “Calvin and Hobbes” to an illuminating track-by-track breakdown, and conclude with “Vespelmadeen Terror”.

Enter all those who still want Metal that intrigues and inspires, Gigan is oddly familiar in an otherworldly kinda way—anomalous music on a homogeneous landscape.

Check out the one track not played here (“Fathomless Echoes of Eternity’s imagination”) at Willowtip, where you can also hook up with some sweet pre-order deals, or grab it from Amazon below.

Leaving so soon? Check out…
