It was the morning of my first presentation and I could not have been more excited. As I awoke with thoughts of promotional preparation, I got a call from Phil of Revocation. Two minutes later my mind is abuzz with how to fill the void, cuz the dude pinched a nerve and “could barely put on pants, let alone travel to play a gig” (paraphrased). As I made my own round of calls, Franky Vitriol of Amadis rung me back and lived up to his adopted name! He told me of some douchery involving slashed tires and other such things, and had since quit booking for 242 Main, where Amadis “will never set foot again”.
Balls.
Attempts were made and possibilities were proposed, but the show went on with three bands for a sawbuck. And y’know, we had a pretty solid turnout for a Sunday with the Oscars on. I snapped some great pictures, too… have a look!
Lyndonville’s Caledonia are a metalcore band that’s relatively new to Vermont. If they develop their attack – which is somewhere between The Red Chord and Every Time I Die – they could be a formidable force. I recommend ramping down the unnecessary swears, too. Check out the latest from the Caledonia MySpace.
This was my first time catching Mythology live. I had heard the Infernal Black Alliance split they released with Nåthruzym a couple years ago, and had been itching to catch them ever since. Color me impressed (and blackened)! Especially vocalist/guitarist Gallows, whose commanding presence was further underscored by his fiendish leads. Visit Mythology MySpace for more.
If there is any band that the Green Mountains can proudly hail as our answer to Immortal, that would be Nåthruzym. Beautiful melodies often escape the cacophonous din, and when the live vocals of the feather-and-bone-clad Mutis match his recorded enunciation, the band is unstoppable. Coupled with Rudraak’s energetic spirit (that even involved playing his bass with a moose horn) and the furious-yet-controlled battery of Malzumis Az-Kladen, Nåthryzum is truly Vermont’s premier black metal force. Venture to the Nåthruzym MySpace for the proof.

The Norwegians icons play to a sold-out crowd in Oslo, with over two-and-a-half hours of rocking rapture!
Who—or what—is Gigan? Turns out they have less to do with kaiju (though they're still fans) and more to do with transcendental existence. Go figure.
Well this rules a bunch. The last live video we got from these dudes was The Fantomas Melvins Big Band "Live from London", recorded six year...
