Let the interweb forums explode! Following the necrotizing faciitis news from a couple days ago, it was just announced that Gary Holt of Exodus will take over for Slayer‘s Jeff Hanneman on their future tour dates. And while the debates rage on about who are the masters of the Mid-Four, this is a monumental event however you slice it. Anyway, like the origins of Hanneman’s disease, which is still undetermined (though spider bite is suspected), that “best” is kind of unknowable. But ddamn, this is a fine choice!
Holt will join Slayer for the five dates of the Australian Soundwave Festival, which will no doubt flood YouTube with fan videos in the weeks to come. And way to get a guy who is also a founding/staple member of their own band; I couldn’t be more pleased had it been Eric Peterson.
