Los Angeles black metallers, THE FUNERAL PYRE have unveiled the cover of their forthcoming album, “Vultures At Dawn,” due June 8, 2010 on Prosthetic Records. Artist Justin Barlett, who did the cover for the band’s 2008 release, “Wounds,” as well as art for Trap Them and sunn 0))) among others, is responsible for the layout. The album was recorded by Adam Campbell at Awkward Studios, mixed by Ryan Butler (Landmine Marathon, Misery Index, Phobia) at Arcane Digital and was mastered by Dave Shirk (Incantation, Nile, Today Is The Day) of Sonorous Mastering.

Vocalist John Strachan commented on the artwork: “We asked Justin Bartlett to handle the artwork once again because we felt with the record title and direction of the record, that he could portray the ideas visually. He has done a brilliant job.”
THE FUNERAL PYRE will be announcing summer dates with EARLY GRAVES, as well as information on the band’s CD release show, shortly. The band just returned from a week on the West coast, playing some dates with EARLY GRAVES and playing four of LIGHT THIS CITY’s final shows. In March, they made a trip to Texas and back with LANDMINE MARATHON which included Prosthetic’s South By Southwest showcase on March 17th in Austin and a Brooklyn Vegan SxSW day party at Hoek’s Death Metal Pizza.
