Columbus, Ohio’s latest export is hitting the road. The band says: “House shows/parties, BBQs, bar mitzvah’s, whatever; we’re game.” They need help on a few dates… see what you can do!

GRAVE final 2010

Rating: 4/5

When mediocre bands inch their evolution forward, the result is tediously agonizing for those that have the misfortune to hear. But when you have classic masters––still forging their legacy, and not merely riding their own coattails in some bizarre metallic mobius strip––the result is just this good.

What continues to be refreshing about Misery Index is their ability to craft meaningful, well-balanced songs with just the right mix of technicality, catchiness, and straight-up brutality.

The first release from NEUROSIS since 2007’s Given to the Rising, this new live album was recorded that same year in Tilburg, Holland, at the annual Roadburn Festival, where NEUROSIS headlined to a diehard audience.

I have enjoyed The Devil’s Blood so far, but have always wondered if they REALLY love Satan. Here, their allegiance to The Light-Bringer is clear. I dig their stop-motion animation, and it looks like they are covered in almost as much blood as WATAIN for live performances (almost). It’s a short, two minute introduction, so you should really watch. Know this band.

For all those who have not had the pleasure of seeing Savannah’s latest fine export (myself included), submitted for your approval is “Red Eyes, Black Skies”.  It does a great job at capturing the song’s energy, and check the sweet beard on Athon! When listening to ’342′, the best advice I can impart was once given to the White Rabbit by The King of Hearts: “Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.” It is exhausting yet exhilarating art, passion without pretense.
