An American Where? (or) The Rabbit and the Damage Done

Through poisoning and perseverance, MetalMattLongo wrenches two reviews from France.

Interviewed for the First Time and DJ of the Month = Vacation Time for MetalMattLongo!

The irony is palpable, because my current vacation means I will update the site infrequently, plus miss three of my radio shows, three Metal Mondays at Nectar’s, and the WRUV station meeting where they’ll announce this DJ love.

Dissecting CARCASS’s “Heartwork” – Fourth Incision

“Heavy metal, for all intents and purposes, is a death factory.” ~Keith Spillett

Scope the Nice New DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Site; Also, Euro Tour Dates

I dig the new site lots. Minimalist, black-and-white, easily navigable, and modeled after the “Option Paralysis” font and logo.

At a Computer? Listen to FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE Full "Agony" Stream at DECIBLOG Now!

The entire week prior to its release, get an extreme stream (exstream?) of the Italian metal powerhouse.

Review : UNEXPECT - "Fables of the Sleepless Empire"

Rating: 5/5

Does “Fables of the Sleepless Empire” hold up to “In a Flesh Aquarium”, a nigh perfect opus? I like the guitar and violin work better, though the production feels slightly weaker or overdone in parts, but the compositions are quirky, complex and ultimately awe-inspiring. The answer: yes, they still hold the torch.

EARACHE pwns SEASON OF MIST with MORBID ANGEL Reissues

That’s how I read it anyway. Also, a quick question or two about those ambiguous “death metal record sales” stats.

Review : SERPENT VENOM - "Carnal Altar"

Rating: 4.5/5

Serpent Venom slithers across the pond from the United Kingdom, containing former members of doom bands that are unknown to the casual fan. That is, unless you’re familiar with Gaz Ricketts of Sloth, who handles vocal duties. I stumbled upon “Carnal Altar” by chance and just had to add my two cents.

Damn, DEADFALL — You Pretty!

Deadfall is the brainchild of Berkelee smartypants Eddie Kim, who wrote, produced, recorded, performed guitar, programmed drums, engineered, mastered, and — I dunno — catered? Man, good of him to get bassist Sean Dusoe in there for balance. Control much? I know the feeling….
