Review : END OF LEVEL BOSS - "Eklectric"

Rating: 4/5

“Eklectric” is a fun album that urges the listener to explore unfamiliar themes (an Earth without man, the science of frequencies/wavelengths) while kicking back with the libation(s) of their choice.

Review : DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT – "Deconstruction"

Rating: 4.5/5

While the most Strapping-esque release in the Devin Townsend Project’s four-album series, Deconstruction is a deranged mess (I mean this in a very, very good way) which should be distanced from everything Devin has previously done. If this album doesn’t prove to you that metal is one of the most ductile genres — that is, when in the right hands, and Townsend’s hands are certainly “right” — then I have no idea what will.

Review : DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT – "Ghost"

Rating: 5/5

If you are strictly a metalhead, I cannot recommend this album to you. However, if you have a more open mind to stuff that lacks any and all aggression, I would, at the very least, give this record a chance. After all, I like it enough to give it my first 5/5 of 2011. Don’t be surprised if it ends up high on my year-end list.

Review : TRIVIUM - "In Waves" (Album)

Rating: 3/5

According to our old friend Wikipedia, “trivium” stood for the first three subjects taught in medieval universities. And in that tradition, the band Trivium is analogous to young metalheads—a good start, but there is much learning to be done.

DEAD KENNEDYS Three-Way Dance with HEINEKEN and SPOTIFY

Hey, anyone remember the “Holiday in Cambodia” fiasco with fucking Dockers? How about this: don’t have Dead Kennedys tunes—original or covers—in your commercial without permission. Hell, how about not at all?

FANTÔMAS to Release "The Director's Cut Live: A New Year's Revolution"

Well this rules a bunch. The last live video we got from these dudes was The Fantomas Melvins Big Band “Live from London”, recorded six years ago, and released three years ago. Suffice it to say, this is most welcome—”The Director’s Cut” is my favorite Fantômas album. Read on for the full press release.

VIKA YERMOLYEVA Piano Decimation Live at Nectar's

If VIKA is not yet in your vocabulary, allow me to etch her into your brain. She plays innovative, catchy covers of classic rock and metal tunes—by herself, without vocals, using only a keyboard. Her incredible setlist includes: Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, System of a Down, Slayer, Motorhead, and more!
