…”Archaenae Perfectii” is a good album, with a few songs that are plain awesome. It invokes the somber moods that a lot of French atmospheric post-black metal bands are good at, but are able to stay in the True Black Metal realm…

“Ascending in Triumph” starts off strong and only really starts to get repetitive with three of the last four songs. It is certainly an album that you’d want to listen to from start to finish, and a Best of 2010 pick!

Kayo Dot is not your typical rock/metal act. They succeed at pushing the limits of categorization completely off a cliff and if anything, you should listen to this album if you are interested in expanding your horizons without actually using an illicit substance.

It may take a while for one to find nuances in this album but it is well worth the listen. This is my first exposure to Pro-Pain and it was a pleasant surprise.

“Wonder” is another one of my top picks for 2010 that I believe fans of Kyuss would enjoy.

Interestingly, A7X appear to be getting both heavier and softer simultaneously. Clearly, the band is better at writing heavy stuff. For this reason, they need to just stick with what they know, because nothing tears a band apart more than indecision. Though “Nightmare” is a step up from their last album and may sell lots of copies, they are ultimately doomed for failure if they do not make up their minds.
The following excerpt is a statement from BEHEMOTH’s frontman and guitarist Nergal regarding his health and the canceling of upcoming tour dates.
Fresh off the amazing experience that was the 2010 GWAR-B-Q, intergalactic snuff-rockers GWAR continue their relentless assault upon all humanity with the announcement of their first run of dates for this fall’s “Bloody Tour of Horror” with The Casualties, Infernaeon and Mobile Deathcamp.
Recorded in 2009, Awaken was originally available for physical purchase via direct band merchandise outlets. Through the new cooperation, the album will now be accessible via proper retail outlets throughout North America. Like I said before, TESF dusts anything released by either Killswitch Engage or Seemless in the last several years, so you should listen!
