Austrian Death Machine - Double Brutal

Austrian Death Machine - Double Brutal
released September 29, 2009 on Metal Blade

I bet you’re wondering the same thing as the rest of us: ‘How long can they milk this cash cow?’. The answer: as long as it’s worth the purchase. It’s twenty minutes longer than Total Brutal, thanks to the second disc which is chock full of covers (seven in all; eight if you count the “T2 theme”).

It’s still unashamedly goofy, with plenty of references to Schwarzenegger flicks reworked into infectious metalcore anthems, and guest guitar solos throughout. ADM ventures into even heavier territory on 8 & 23 (a Goretorture cover), adding more dimension than expected. Albums like this are bound to surface occasionally, and I say be thankful for the ones that are this good.

Will there be a Triple Brutal before Tim Lambesis calls it quits on his little project? Hard to tell, but I bet the next is something way over the top. Omnibrutal, anyone?
