Burden - Man Of No Account
released March 12, 2010 on Ván Records
Rating: 4/5
Burden is a group that is influenced by several metal sub-genres (stoner rock, doom). This is just a two-song sampler of what’s to come from this band. They are currently in the studio working on an untitled 13 song album. ”the slug, the drag. the misery.” is slow, with a strong lean into stoner doom territory. The pacing changes midway through the song as it sinks deeper and deeper into a sludgy haze. ”Man of No Account” leans more towards traditional doom with a nice bluesy feel and competent instrumentation. I can honestly say that with the quality of these songs, this EP gives the listener something to look forward to and if it’s any indication of what the full album will sound like, count me in.
