Gwar - Lust In Space

Gwar – “Lust In Space”
released August 18, 2009 on Metal Blade

25 years after their Antarctic thaw, the masters and creators of our bastard race finally escaped to the nether regions of space…and returned! As a token of their good(?) graces(?), they offer us another album commemorating their exploits for our voracious mass consumption.

Their eleventh studio release finds the band reuniting forces with Metal Blade to disseminate their filthy splendor, and though the devastating brutality has thankfully escalated with post-2000 Gwar, this is the best realized album on the whole in over a decade. And oh, do they have messages for us before they depart. Their advice may be tainted, but should be heeded nonetheless. After all, with a god’s eye view, their omniscience offers insight our half-simian brains can barely comprehend. What’s more, it’s delivered with a calculated ferocity such as you’ve never heard from Earth’s only openly extraterrestrial band, particularly the razing “Release The Flies”.

Standing as testament to mankind’s insatiable self-destructive nature (and the band’s insatiable appetite for crack), our lords may never leave us. At least we won’t need to pay exorbitant interplanetary shipping fees for future albums or this, an unmissable Best of 2009 pick!
