Rating: 3.5/5
“Rekreatur”, or ‘recreation’ is a slightly deceiving name for the album. Though a solid and enjoyable listen, it sounds like an extended version of “Sagas”, except maybe with slightly less passion.
Review : EQUILIBRIUM – “Rekreatur”Rating: 3.5/5 “Rekreatur”, or ‘recreation’ is a slightly deceiving name for the album. Though a solid and enjoyable listen, it sounds like an extended version of “Sagas”, except maybe with slightly less passion. |
Review : SVARTSOT – “Mulmets Viser”Rating: 2/5 Altogether, “Mulmets Viser” is impressive considering the circumstances. I can see a lot of rising potential with this group in albums to come. Cheers! |
Review : SKYFORGER – “Kurbads”Rating: 3/5 The combination of the folky flutes/bagpipes with the Motörhead-style vocals and thrash metal riffs is quite enjoyable. And of course, like any true folk band, their tunes are worthy of jigs and pint- swigging, which makes it all the more fun to listen to. |
Review : HEIDEVOLK – “Uit Oude Grond”Rating: 3.5/5 Heidevolk is still a solid band that I’d recommend to just about anyone, but they didn’t reach their full potential with this album. |
Review : TRAIL OF TEARS – Bloodstained EnduranceRating : 3/5 After dealing with a failed tour and a ditching band, Robby Thorsen assembled together a new line up of musicians that successfully brings back their gothic symphonic death sound that fans love so much. |
Review : ENSIFERUM – “From Afar”Rating : 5/5 Ensiferum’s second masterpiece is a commanding presence amongst their discography. |
Review : ALESTORM – “Black Sails At Midnight”Rating : 3.5/5 Raise your pints to “That Famous Ol’ Spiced”! What would Alestorm be without their classic pirate-esque drinking songs? |
Review : GLITTERTIND – “Landkjenning”Rating : 4/5 We’ve waited 6 years for this album and it was worth it! Grade A Folk metal. |
Review : FAIRYLAND – Score To A New BeginningRating : 2.5/5 “Fantasy” metal. This album would be better suited for “Dragons on Ice,” or something involving mythical woodland creatures, than for headbanging metalheads. |
