With this release, Obscura distinguishes by their innate sense of immersion. “Omnivium” maintains the outer space sound from “Cosmogenesis” but has a far more intimate atmosphere.

Decrepit Birth’s third studio album begins with a melodic guitar arrangement almost reminiscent of The Fucking Champs. The similarities, as you might expect, stop there. The band waste no time whipping out Schuldiner-esque riffs and guttural growls. The sound in general is still pretty much what you have grown to expect from Decrepit Birth––a modernized version of later Death material––but Polarity sees the band in their best form yet.

Technical death metal is one of the most polarizing genres among metalheads. Some will argue for hours that Necrophagist are some of the most talented musicians ever to walk the earth while others will say that Decrepit Birth noodle on forever without any kind of musical direction. Both of these arguments have credence. However, I haven’t seen a single band give critics so many dichotomous opinions of the same thing as much as Brain Drill have.
